From old to new, trendy to traditional Istanbul has it all. The architecture, design, food, culture and entertainment are all created with a rich history in mind, while at the same time being at the forefront of a modern city. Not only is the actual Istanbul experience beautiful so is the city itself. I can't Imagine a much better setting for a city. Istanbul sits on the hills around the natural harbor called the Golden Horn on the Bosphorus Strait.
This body of water is what separates Europe from Asia, making Istanbul the only city in the world located on two continents. The City views are full of mosque domes among the dense checkerboard of white and red buildings that creep up the hillsides. Broadly arching bridges span turquoise water abundant with boats. The sights, sounds and smells of this city could only come from the place they call the gateway to asia, Istanbul, truly a one of a kind.
We were in Istanbul for nearly a week in total and we would have liked to stay much longer. To explore all the neighborhoods, try all the foods, see the sights and just experience the city could be a lifetime endeavor. No food photos? A food post to come!

Your photos are amazingly pretty – I particularly love the little girl with the pigeons, what a great catch! Just started following your blog and look forward to more of these fantastic photo essays!
I love Istanbul. You could live there for years and not even begin see everything. It’s a city constantly changing and in flux.
I love those first two pictures. Thanks for showing us the world.
When are we going back?
