The second stop on my southern road trip was Atlanta, Georgia. Before I meet Beau I lived in Atlanta for 6 years. I have a ton of fun memories from my days in the ATL. I have great memories of hanging out with my girlfriends at the pool during summer, going to Screen on the Green in Piedmont park and staring up at the Atlanta skyline, or the fun nights out dancing with friends. The two things I miss most about Atlanta are my dear friends and the FOOD!
Every time I come back to Atlanta I arrange seeing my friends over food. I know I know gluttonous but it is a priority in my family. My must stop for food in Atlanta are as follows: Taqueria del Sol, Figo, The Vortex, Rathbun’s, Two Urban Licks, South City Kitchen. I didn’t make to every yummy restaurant this trip since it is so short. They might not be newest and coolest of Atlanta but I promise you they will make your belly happy.
Between gaining 10 pounds and reliving memories with my friends, I did find time for a little shopping. Filled with cute little shops and restaurants, the Virgina Highlands is a favorite shopping spot of mine. I am a little biased since I lived in the Highlands but I love the vibe of this area. It is a great place to find gifts. If you are looking to do a little more damage, I love going to the Westside Urban Market area. Westside Urban Market has changed a lot since I lived in Atlanta but it still has one of my favorite design stores, Bungalow. It now has a Jonathan Alder store! A very dangerous place for my credit cards. It’s also a great place to finish the day at JCT Kitchen open patio with drinks and deviled eggs. I did this the right way with good friends making me smile while watching the trains go by.
I love Atlanta! Thanks to all my friends for taking the time to hanging out. I hope visit again before the 2nd/3rd round of kids appear.
NEXT STOP: Nashville….
