We were able to find a great deal on some plane tickets to Indonesia. Sometimes great deals don’t necessarily equate to the most direct route. For instance, our flight took us from Denver to LA to Tokyo to Singapore to Jakarta to Semarang. From leaving our front door to walking into our hotel here in Semarang, took us exactly 43 hours 20 minutes. The nice thing about traveling 4 laps of a clock is that it takes you beyond crabby to just feeling like you’ve had a few too many cocktails, have tunnel vision and people sound like the grown-ups in Peanuts cartoons. wha wha wha wha.
Meggan and I showered and then slept like dead people, now we feel very much alive again ready for our whirlwind world tour. For those of you new to our blog, we’ve been busy developing products from fair trade organizations, artisans and family run businesses from around the world. For this trip we are checking out some prototypes and doing a little quality control on the items in production.
We will be here in Central Java for about a week, then onto Bali and then to Vietnam, Nepal, India and maybe Turkey. We didn’t realize this until a jet-legged punch drunk conversation about 35ish hours in, but we’re going around the world again, in the opposite direction as last time.
We will be posting as often as possible and will also be posting photos on Twitter and Facebook this time. I’m a little late to the iphone party, but the $0.99 camera apps have been much more affordable to my camera addiction… of course these will never replace our cameras. We have literally only seen the inside of airplanes and airports and this hotel room so far, but stay tuned to a bunch of exciting stuff to come!
We are in Flores, Nusa Tengara right now…so close, bummer we can’t meet up. Have a great trip!
