Snug between sheer limestone cliffs and a white beach is the village of El Nido, a perfect launching point to explore the beautiful Bacuit Archipelago. Not only is the location an ideal home-base for exploration, El Nido has many qualities that may convince you to never leave.
What gives El Nido the most appeal is its general vibe, specifically the friendly and laid-back atmosphere. I don’t want to say the cliche of island time, because that’s not really accurate. The people here are unbelievable friendly and hospitable, but are in no way idle. Most are busy running restaurants and guesthouses, manning markets and fishing, but are always quick to stop what they are doing to say hello. The lovely people go perfectly with the lovely view.
As mentioned above, El Nido sits on a white beach against towering limestone cliffs. From the beach you can sit at one of the little bars, have a dollar San Miguel beer and gaze at the view of several rugged islands of the archipelago in the turquoise water. 
El Nido manages to have many conveniences for travelers despite only having power at night, which in my opinion only adds to the appeal of staying here. A walk through El Nido you will find shops for necessities, coffee shops for caffeine, restaurants with an endless supply of fresh seafood and little beach bars with live music. Why did we leave again? 
You’ll never believe this, but I was born and raised in Manila, Philippines, and lived there for nearly 20 years but never had the chance to visit Palawan. In my defense, growing up in the 70’s, 80’s in the Philippines, the southern part was always considered a hot bed for Communist activities and we were told to avoid these parts. Of course, in the mid-80’s to 90’s, tourism in Palawan just started to take off, but I totally missed the opportunity to travel to this province. Perhaps, my next visit in 2011, I will make sure that I get to Palawan!
