Crazy creepy cool. That's how we would describe the Recoleta
cemetery in Buenos, Aires. This cemetery is a sea of ornate tombs,
vaults and beautiful sculptures encompassing 6 hectares (about 15
acres). Recoleta cemetery is the resting place of many presidents,
historical heroes and most famously, Evita Peron.
On a foggy day, the cemetery could be straight out of a movie. The
cobwebbed statues have a lifelike energy to them. Many times we felt
like the statues' eyes were following us. To
top it off, this place is home to hundreds of cats roaming around and
lounging on the tombs. The cats definitely acted different in some
areas too… like they know something we don't. Hence, our
description: crazy creepy cool. This is a must see when you visit
Buenos Aires.
Great pictures! I’ve always wanted to go there. Someday soon, I hope!
Don’t cry for me Argentina. Agreed, the photos are phenom.
I adopted that black cat and brought her home (to Chicago). I actually brought back 6 of those cats – the other 5 are in wonderful homes. If you have any other pics of the cats I’d love to see them.
Wow! Yes, I’ll look through those photos when I get a chance and send you anything with a cat in it. Thanks for commenting!
