Kuala Lumpur is the sprawling capital city of Malaysia as well as a collision of all things Asian.  This city has an astonishing amount of cultural diversity.  The people that reside in KL are ethnic Maylays, Indian and Chinese immigrants as well as a large representation of others from around the world.KL is a powerhouse of international trade and commerce, but it’s much more than fancy skyscrapers and modern development.  Here you will also find street-side hawkers, markets, ancient temples and immaculate mosques.  We loved the fact we could buy a few mangosteens and bananas from a fruit stand, visit a Shinto Shrine in Chinatown, walk over a skybridge viewing a mosque, stop for some Dum Aloo at a restaurant in little India and have an afternoon coffee at a trendy coffee shop with Wi-fi… all within a couple hours.  Despite the heat, KL is a great city to walk just because you go through a different Asian experience every couple blocks.Coming directly from island hopping to here was actually a nice change of pace.  The frantic city energy was a bit of a boost to the senses.  We had a great time exploring the little India and Chinatown areas.  The industrial and urban landscape was really fun to photograph.  If you’re into street photography, this is definitely on our shortlist of places to capture.  With all of the diversity, emotion, colors and structures, there is always a beautiful composition to be had.It’s not a trip to KL without a visit to the Petronas Towers… now down to the 3rd tallest building in the world.  At least I think it’s 3rd, someone may throw in an antenna disqualification or something, at any rate, it’s damn tall.  It also happens to be just a beautiful building.  In the lower 4 or 5 stories of the building is a ultra-lux mall.  If you are in the market for Cartier watch, you can find it here, I’m still rocking my Timex I picked up at the San Salvador airport.
